The remaining part of a rectangular funeral painting has a dedication to the Patriarch Jonas. On the upper part of the painting is a bird spreading its wings and the lower part has floral ornamentation. The bird spreading its wings symbolizes the Holy Spirit in Christianity. 

Some funeral paintings were found in monasteries west of Alexandria, while others were found in various parts of upper and lower Egypt, especially in Aswan, Akhmim, and Ashmunein. 

The paintings, which were usually executed on limestone or marble, were made to close the tomb and to record the deceased's name, parents, and location. Others had a cross on them, which developed from the Ankh sign of Pharaonic Egypt.

La partie restante d'une peinture funéraire rectangulaire est dédiée à Patriarche Jonas. Sur la portion supérieure de la peinture, un oiseau déploie ses ailes et la portion inférieure est ornée d'une décoration florale. L'oiseau déployant ses ailes symbolise le Saint esprit de la chrétienté. 

Certaines peintures funéraires ont été découvertes dans des monastères à l'ouest d'Alexandrie, alors que d'autres ont été découvertes dans différentes parties de Haute et de Basse Egypte, tout spécialement à Assouan, Akhmim et Ashmunein. 

Ces peintures, généralement réalisées sur de la pierre à chaux ou du marbre, étaient effectuées pour fermer la tombe et rappeler le nom, les parents et l'emplacement du défunt. D'autres représentaient une croix, développement du signe Ankh de l'Egypte pharaonique.

بقية من لوحة جنائزية مستطيلة الشكل عليها إهداء إلى البطريرك يؤنس. وتصور اللوحة في الجزء العلوي منها طائراً فارداً جناحيه، كما يحتوي الجزء السفلي على زخارف نباتية. ويرمز المشهد العلوي إلى الروح القدس في الديانة المسيحية. 

وقد عثر على الكثير من اللوحات الجنائزية في الأديرة غرب الإسكندرية، بينما عثر على أعداد أخرى بمختلف أجزاء صعيد مصر والوجه البحري: خاصة في أسوان وأخميم والأشمونين. 

وكانت اللوحات الجنائزية تنفذ عادة في الحجر الجيري أو الرخام، وتصنع قريبا من المقبرة وتسجل أسماء المتوفى ووالديه والموقع (الناحية). كان البعض الآخر يحمل الصليب، الذي تطور من علامة العنخ التي ترجع إلى العصور الفرعونية في مصر.
