The Byzantine bronze coin depicts Emperor Justinian the First who reigned from AD 527 to AD 565. The coin was made in the mint of Alexandria. The denomination of the coin is 12 nummia. 

On the front of the coin is a bust of Justinian the First looking right. He is wearing a diadem, a military cloak and a breastplate that covers his torso. 

The back side of the coin portrays a cross between the letters "IB". The Greek letters "IB" represent the denomination of the coin. The "I" stands for 10 and the "B" stands for 2 for a total of 12 nummia. It was thought that the long-lasting series of Alexandrian bronze coins of the 12 nummia, or the dodecanummia, denomination was initiated by Justinian the First. 

Along with the bust of Justinian, the front side of the coin has a Latin legend starting with DN, the abbreviation of "Dominus Noster," or Our Lord. The legend continues with the name of the emperor and ends with his titles "PPAVG," or Perpetuus Augustus, or a similar phrase. 

Beneath the exergual line is the name of the mint in Greek. The exergual line separates the portion of the coin that is beneath the main design. Only the first four letters of the name of the mint are present.

Il s'agit d'une pièce byzantine en bronze. Justinian Premier (527-565 après Jésus-Christ). Frappée : Alexandrie. Valeur : 12 nummi. 

Côté face : buste de Justinian Premier regardant vers la droite, portant un diadème, un paludamentum (cape militaire) et une cuirasse. 

Côté pile : une croix entre IB. Les lettres grecques "IB" représentent la domination de pièce. "I" signifie 10 et "B" signifie 2= 12 nummia. On pensait que les séries durables de pièces en bronze d'Alexandrie d'une valeur de 12 nummi (dodécanummi) avaient été lancées par Justinian Premier. 

Sur la face de cette pièce, on peut voir le buste de profil de l'empereur regardant vers la droite, portant un diadème, une cape et une cuirasse, avec une légende en latin commençant par DN (abréviation de Dominus Noster [Notre Seigneur]) et le nom de l'empereur, se terminant par ses titres : PPAVG (Perpetuus Augustus, ou similaire). Au dos de cette pièce, sont gravées les lettres grecques IB avec une croix au milieu. 

Sous l'exergue, on peut lire le nom de l'hôtel de la Monnaie en grec. L'exergue sépare la partie de la pièce qui se trouve sous le dessin principal. Seules les quatre premières lettres sont présentes.

صور جستينيان الأول، برأسه إلى وسطه، على وجه العملة الأمامي ملتفتا إلى اليمين وعلى رأسه إكليل و يرتدي عباءة ودرعا واقيا. 

على الخلف، يوجد صليب بين IB. الحروف اليونانية IB تمثل سيطرة العملة. I تعنى 10وB تعنى 2=12 نوميا. ويلاحظ أن مجموعة العملات البرونزية بالاسكندرية ذات قيمة 12 نوميا بدأت مع جستنيان الاول.

يظهر على نفس الوجه شعار باللغة اللاتينية DNيبدأ بالحرفين الدالين اختصارا على الرب، واسم الإمبراطور؛ وينتهي بلقبه PPAVGالذي يعني "الشبيه بأوغسطس". 

يفصل هذا السطر الأخير الجزء من العملة تحت التصميم الرئيسي، ولا يتبقى منه سوى الأحرف الأربعة الأولى.
