The Global Egyptian Museum

The gold octodrachm was minted in Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy the Second (Philadelphus) or Ptolemy the Third. On the reverse, Ptolemy the Second and Arsinoe the Second are depicted with their busts facing toward the right.

Ptolemy is wearing a chlamys, or a short oblong mantle, and a diadem, a type of crown, while Arsinoe is veiled and wears a diadem.

In the field to the left, an oval Gaulish shield is depicted, and above them the Greek inscription "Adelphon" reads "brothers." On the obverse, Ptolemy the First and Berenice the First are depicted. 

Their busts face toward the right. Both of them are wearing diadems and Berenice is veiled. On top, there is a Greek inscription that reads "Theon," or "gods."

Cet octodrachme en or fut frappé à Alexandrie au cours du règne de Ptolémée Deux (Philadeilphous) ou Ptolémée Trois. Sur le revers, Ptolémée Deux et Arsinoé Deux sont représentés avec la poitrine tournée vers la droite.

Ptolémée porte un "chlamys", ou manteau court allongé, et un diadème alors qu'Arsinoé est voilée et est également coiffée d'un diadème. Sous ces deux personnages, on peut lire l'inscription grecque "Adelphon" qui signifie "frères". 

Sur la gauche se trouve un bouclier gaulois de forme ovale. Sur l'avers de cette pièce, Ptolémée Premier et Bérénice Premier sont représentés avec la poitrine tournée vers la droite. 

Ils portent tous deux un diadème mais Bérénice est voilée. Sur la partie supérieure, l'inscription grecque "Theon" est visible. Elle signifie "dieux".

عملة ذهبية ضربت في الأسكندرية أثناء حكم بطلميوس الثاني (فيلادلفوس) أو الثالث. وهي أوكتادراخمون، أي ثماني درخمات.

يظهر على ظهر العملة جذعا بطلميوس الثاني وزوجته أرسينوي الثانية ناظرين ناحية اليمين، ويرتدي كل منهما تاجا، كما يرتدي بطلميوس العباءة الحربية وعصبة الرأس في حين غطت أرسينوي شعرها. 

كما نقش في المساحة الخالية في اليسار درع غالٍ بيضاوي الشكل ومن فوقها نقش يوناني يقرأ "الأخوان".

بينما يظهر على وجه العملة جذعا بطلميوس الأول وزوجته برنيكي الأولى، ناظرين جهة اليمين، ويلبس كل منهما عصابة الرأس، كما غطت برنيكي شعرها. ويوجد على نفس الوجه نقش يوناني يقرأ ثيون أي "الهة".
