The Global Egyptian Museum

The canopic box of Yuya is a wooden chest placed on runners. It is varnished in black with yellow strips that contain the hieroglyphic names of Yuya. The figures of the deities in charge of protecting the internal organs of the deceased also decorate the sides. 

The lid of the chest imitates the roof of the archaic divine shrines. On the inside, the chest is divided into four compartments into which the alabaster canopic jars were placed. The internal organs were wrapped in linen and topped with miniature cartonnage masks depicting the features of a human being.

Le coffre canope de Youya est une caise en bois placée sur des patins. Il est verni en noir avec des bandes jaunes qui contiennent les noms hiéroglyphiques de Youya. Les représentations de divinités chargées de la protection des organes du défunt décorent les côtés. 

Le couvercle du coffre imite le toit des anciens tombeaux divins. A l'intérieur, la caisse est divisée en quatre compartiments dans lesquels les canopes en albâtre étaient placés. Les organes étaient enveloppés dans du lin et surmontés de masques miniatures en carton représentant les traits d'un être humain.

صنع هذا الصندوق للأوانى الكانوبية الخاص بيويا من الخشب ووضع على زحافة. وهو مطلى بالورنيش الأسود وعليه خطوط صفراء تحتوى على أسماء يويا مكتوبة بالهيروغليفية. ويزين جوانب الصندوق أشكال المعبودات المنوط بها حماية الأحشاء الداخلية للمتوفى. 

ويقلد غطاء الصندوق شكل سقف المقصورات الإلهية فى العصر العتيق. ومن الداخل، ينقسم الصندوق إلى أربع خانات لكى توضع فيها الأوانى الكانوبية الأربعة المصنوعة من الألباستر. وكانت الأحشاء الداخلية تلف فى الكتان ويوضع فوقها قناع مصغر من الكرتوناج يصور ملامح وجه آدمى.
