According to the pyramids texts, the king becomes the Sun God's scribe after his death. This explains the reason for which there was much writing equipment buried with Tutankhamun.

The rectangular writing palette, to which a papyrus was attached, is of the traditional Egyptian type. It has a slot on the upper surface for the reed pens and brushes with their sharply cut or gently chewed ends. It was made of gesso covered by silver, which has now gone black. 

It was probably a model for the king to use in the netherworld.

Selon les textes de la pyramide, le roi deviendrait un scribe du dieu soleil après sa mort. Cela permet d'expliquer la raison pour laquelle tant de matériel d'écriture a été enterré avec Toutânkhamon. 

Cette palette d'écriture rectangulaire à laquelle un papyrus était fixé, est de type égyptien traditionnel. Elle est dotée d'une rainure sur la surface supérieure pour y ranger les pinceaux et les stylos en roseau avec leurs extrémités aiguisées ou doucement mâchouillées. Elle est en enduit recouvert d'argent, qui a aujourd'hui noirci. 

Il s'agissait probablement d'une miniature que le roi pourrait utiliser dans l'au-delà.

تبعاً لنصوص الأهرام، فإن الملك بعد وفاته يصبح كاتباً لرب الشمس. هذا يساعد على تفسير السبب فى العثور على الكثير من أدوات الكتابة فى مقبرة الملك توت عنخ آمون. 

وهذه لوحة تقليدية للكتابة مستطيلة الشكل مزينه بزهرة البردى. وفى طرفها الأعلى شق خاص للأقلام وفرشاه الرسم من البوص وقد شحذت أطرافها. وهى من الجص المغلف بالفضة والتى تحولت الآن بفعل الزمن للون الأسود. 

وهى فى الغالب تعتبر نموذج للوحات الكتابة التى سوف يستخدمها الملك فى العالم الأخر.
