Description
The uraeus, or royal cobra is fixed to a base. As always, the cobra is depicted with its hood extended, rearing up to powerfully strike any enemy of the king. On its head, it wears the horns and the sun disk. In this form, the cobra is linked to the sun god Re as it surrounds his solar disk within its coils. It also represents his fiery eye, which brings destruction to the hostile snakes of the underworld that might threaten the sun god on his nightly journey. The head and body are very well modeled.
