The Global Egyptian Museum

The statue depicts a cobra rearing and ready to strike. It rests on a small column on top of an unmarked rectangular base. 

The cobra symbolized divine and royal protection and was primarily identified with Buto, the goddess of the crown of Lower Egypt. 

Buto's connection with the sun god Re caused her to be connected to many goddesses and, thus, the symbol of the cobra became a hieroglyph for female divinity.

Cette statue représente un cobra se dressant et prêt à attaquer. Il est posé sur une petite colonne en haut d'une base rectangulaire sans marque. 

Le cobra symbolisait la protection divine et royale et était principalement associé à Buto, la déesse de la couronne de Basse Egypte. 

La relation entre Buto et le dieu soleil Rê a entraîné sa connexion avec de nombreuses déesses et, ainsi, le symbole du cobra devint un hiéroglyphe représentant la divinité féminine.

يمثل هذا التمثال كوبرا ترجع للوراء وتستعد للإنقضاض. وهى تستند على عمود صغير فوق قاعدة مستطيلة لا تحمل أى علامة. 

وكانت الكوبرا ترمز للحماية المقدسة والملكية وكانت فى بداية الأمر معروفة على أنها ربة بوتو، وربة تاج مصر السفلى. ثم أصبحت بعد ذلك ربة أنثوية. 

وقد أدى ارتباط بوتو برب الشمس رع إلى ربطها بالعديد من الربات، وبالتالى أصبح رمز الكوبرا علامة هيروغليفية تستخدم كمخصص لأى معبودة أنثى.
