Description
The statuette portrays a seated servant holding a jar between his legs. He is depicted with his natural hair and is shown wearing a white short kilt. He is shown smearing the pottery jars from the inside with clay to prevent liquids from leaking out. Beginning in the Old Kingdom, servants at work were sculpted in stone or wood or painted on tomb walls to guarantee that the same services would be provided for the master in the hereafter.
