Description
This head of Userkaf was found in the Sun Temple dedicated by the king to the god Re at Abusir. The king wears the Red Crown of Lower Egypt. The features of the king are represented in such a very elegant and fine way that when the head was discovered the statue was believed to be of the goddess Neith of Sais. However, the existence of a fine mustache on the upper lip proved that the head was a king's portrait.
