Description
This colossal head of a ram in sandstone comes from the temple of Amun at Kawa, a town to the south of the 3rd cataract. It was placed on the body of a lion in order to form a sphinx after the fashion of those that decorated the entrance of the temple of Amun at Karnak. The piece dates from the reign of Taharqa, sixth king of the 25th Dynasty.

Deze kolossale ramskop in zandsteen is afkomstig uit de tempel van Amon in Kawa, een stad ten zuiden van het derde cataract. Hij was geplaatst op het lichaam van een leeuw om zo een sfinx te vormen net zoals die die de ingang van de tempel van Amon in Karnak sieren. Het stuk dateert uit de regering van Taharqa, de zesde koning van de 25e dynastie.
Cette colossale tête de bélier en grès provient du temple d'Amon de Kawa, une ville au sud de la IIIe cataracte. Elle a été placée sur un corps de lion pour former un sphinx à l'instar de ceux qui décorent l'entrée du temple d'Amon de Karnak. La pièce date du règne de Taharqa, sixième roi de la XXVème Dynastie.
Dieser kolossale Widderkopf aus Sandstein stammt aus dem Amuntempel in Kawa, einer Stadt südlich des 3. Kataraktes. Er hatte auf einem Löwenkörper gesessen, mit dem er eine Sphinx bildete wie beispielsweise jene, die den Eingang zum Amuntempel in Karnak schmücken. Das Stück datiert in die Regierungszeit des Taharka, des sechsten Königs der 25. Dynastie.
Questa colossale testa di ariete in gres proviene dal tempio di Amon a Kawa, una cittá a sud della III careratta, Essa é stata posta su un corpo di leone per creare una sfinge simile a quelle che decorano il tempio di Amon a Karnak. Il pezzo data al regno di Taharqa, sesto re della XXV dinastia.
Esta colossal cabeça de carneiro em arenito provém do templo de Amon em Kauá, uma localidade ao sul da III catarata. Foi colocada sobre um corpo de leäo para formar uma esfinge semelhante às que decoram a álea de acesso ao templo de Karnak. A peça data do reinado de Taharka. sexto rei da XXV dinastia.

Fue colocada sobre un cuerpo de león para formar una esfinge a la manera de las que decoran la entrada del templo de Amón en Karnak.
