Vase in the shape of a chalice, usually termed 'beaker' or 'tulip vase', of very good quality work. Note its rounded bottom, high and flared body and its tapered lip. This object, a characteristic product of Classical Kerma culture (c. 1750-1500 BC), is remarkable because of the fineness of its fabric, the white band between the red and black decoration, and its metallic lustre.
