Double vessels are found throughout the Naqada Period, although the very special form of this red polished ceramic with white decoration is known almost only during Naqada I. The function of this rarely attested type of vessel is uncertain. Could the requirements of ritual explain the presence of these two linked conical forms, as in other religious and political ideas? Also, the plants represented have not yet been identified with certainty.
