Bobbins for thread

BrE.2239(1).jpg
BrE.2239(2).jpg

These spools of thread (E.2239A-B), which are part of a group of five examples of identical make, are decorated with a floral motif; an openwork rosette. In days gone by, these were considered to be boxes, but thanks to parallels they were identified as bobbins with a large groove for twisting the thread.
