Headless Statue of Asclepius

This statue depicts the Greek god of healing, Asclepius, who was associated with the cult of Imhotep.

The figure stands with his left knee bent and the weight of his body thrown on the right leg. The back of the statue is roughly carved. On his right side is a rectangular support.

There are traces of a serpent, now lost, coiled around the staff as well as his right thigh. The staff of Asclepius, a symbol of health and wisdom, became the symbol of medicine in modern times.
