Description

Isis is represented as a wasp-waisted woman with the hieroglyphics of her name over her head. She is kneeling and sitting on her heels. The gesture she is making with her hands represents the symbolic act of covering her face or throwing powder over her head as a sign of sadness. This is the archetypal image of Isis as divine mourner for her deceased husband Osiris.
