Description

Rounded disc in cartonnage, representing the solar disc, on which a representation of a 'kheper' scarab has been drawn. 'Kheper', in the Egyptian language, means 'to be born, to become, to exist'. Therefore this animal was closely linked to the solar god of the dawn. It was also associated with regeneration, because, as the sun, it was born in the horizon every morning after its nightly journey.
