Description
This limestone figurine was found during the excavations of a tomb at Gurob. It represents a crouching monkey holding two small monkeys against him. It seems to want to protect the young against all possible danger: the expression of their faces, visible on each side, is a highly eloquent detail. The piece probably dates from the 18th Dynasty.

Dit kalkstenen beeldje is gevonden tijdens opgravingen in een graf in Ghorab. Het stelt een gehurkte aap voor die twee jongen tegen zich aan houdt. Hij lijkt de jongen te willen beschermen tegen elk mogelijk gevaar: hun gelaatsuitdrukkingen, aan beide zijkanten zichtbaar, zijn een veelzeggend detail. Het stuk dateert waarschijnlijk uit de 18e dynastie.
Cette figurine en calcaire a été retrouvée lors des fouilles d'une tombe à Gourob. Elle représente un singe accroupi tenant deux petits singes contre lui. Il semble vouloir protéger les petits contre tout danger possible: l'expression de leurs visages, visibles de chaque côté, est un détail fort éloquent. La pièce date vraisemblablement de la XVIIIème Dynastie.
Diese Kalksteinfigur wurde bei Grabungen in einem Grab in Ghurab gefunden. Sie zeigt einen hockenden Affen, der seine beiden Jungen festhält. Er scheint die Kleinen gegen jegliche Gefahr beschützen zu wollen: der Ausdruck ihrer zu beiden Seiten sichtbaren Gesichter ist sehr sprechend. Das Stück datiert wahrscheinlich in die 18. Dynastie.
Questa figurina di calcare é stata ritrovata durante gli scavi di una tomba a Gurob. Essa rappresenta una scimmia accovacciata che tiene due piccole scimmie contro di sé. Sembra voler proteggere i piccoli contro ogni possibile pericolo: l'espressione dei loro volti, visibili da ogni lato, é un dettaglio molto eloquente. Il pezzo data verosimilmente alla XVIII dinastia.
Esta figurinha de calcário foi encontrada durante as escavaçöes de um túmulo em Gurob. Representa um macaco sentado que chega a si dois macaquinhos, com a provável intençäo de os proteger de qualquer perigo. A expressäo dos seus rostos, visíveis de qualquer lado, é um detalhe muito sugestivo. A peça data certamente da XVIII dinastia.
Esta figurita de caliza fue encontrada durante las excavaciones de una tumba en Gurob. Representa a un mono en cuclillas que abraza a dos monos pequeños. Parece querer protegerlos contra cualquier posible daño; la expresión de sus rostros, visibles a ambos lados, es un detalle muy elocuente. La pieza data probablemente de la Dinastía XVIII.
