Description
This vase was found in one of the rare intact burials of the Kerma necropolis at Sai. It was placed at the head of the deceased among pebbles and cosmetic paints. The clay is coarse, heterogeneous with a high percentage of organic and mineral (calcite ?) temper, black and has been polished. The base is rounded, the neck wide and curved, the lip fat and flared. This type of ceramic could have contained liquids.

La tombe dont provient ce vase est une des rares sépultures intactes de la nécropole Kerma de Sai. Il était disposé à la tête du mort au milieu de galets et de fards. La pâte est grossière, hétérogène avec un fort pourcentage de dégraissant végétal et minéral (calcite ?), noire, lissée. Le fond est arrondi, le col large et cintré, terminé par une grosse lèvre évasée. Ce type de céramique devait contenir un liquide.
