Description
The mummified remains of a baby crocodile. The head is exposed and the teeth are visible. The crocodile represented the god Sobek, who had cult centres at Kom Ombo in Upper Egypt and the Faiyum. Crocodile mummies have also been found at the complex of animal catacombs at Tuna el-Gabal.

Gemummificeerde resten van een babykrokodil. Het hoofd ligt bloot en de tanden zijn zichtbaar. De krokodil vertegenwoordigde de god Sobek, die cultuscentra had in Kom Ombo in Opper-Egypte en in de Fajoem. Ook in het complex van de dierencatacomben van Tuna el-Gabal zijn de gemummificeerde resten van krokodillen aangetroffen.
Restes momifiés d'un bébé crocodile. La tête est exposée et les dents sont visibles. Le crocodile représentait le dieu Sobek dont les centres cultuels se situaient à Kôm Ombo, en Haute Égypte, et dans le Fayoum. Des crocodiles momifiés ont également été découverts dans les catacombes animales de Tuna el-Gabal.
Die mumifizierten Überreste eines kleinen Krokodils; der Kopf liegt frei und die Zähne sind sichtbar. Das Krokodil stellte den Gott Sobek dar, der in Kom Ombo in Oberägypten und im Faijum Kultzentren besaß. Mumifizierte Krokodile sind auch in dem Komplex von Tierkatakomben in Tuna el-Gebel gefunden worden.
