Description
A bright blue glazed figure of a dancing, dwarfish, lion demon. It has a lionskin headdress, the legs, arms and tail are free-standing, with details picked out in black. The figure probably represents a forerunner of the household god Bes, popular from the early New Kingdom onwards.

Helderblauwe geglazuurde figuur van een dansende dwergachtige leeuwendemon. Deze draagt een hoofddeksel van leeuwenhuid, met vrijstaande benen, armen en staart. De details zijn in zwart. De figuur stelt waarschijnlijk een voorloper voor van de huisgod Bes, die populair was vanaf het Nieuwe Rijk.
Figure couverte d'un émail bleu brillant, représentant un démon léonin, naniforme et dansant. Il porte une coiffe en peau de lion; les jambes, les bras et la queue sont dégagés du corps et comportent des détails rehaussés de noir. La figure représente probablement un ancêtre du dieu de la maison Bès, très populaire à partir du début du Nouvel Empire.
Eine hellblau glasierte Figur eines zwergenhaften tanzenden Löwendämonen. Er trägt einen Kopfschmuck aus Löwenfell, Arme, Beine und Schwanz sind frei mit schwarz hervorgehobenen Details gearbeitet. Die Figur stellt wahrscheinlich einen Vorläufer des Haushaltsgottes Bes dar, der vom Neuen Reich an populär wurde.
Figura in pasta vitrea di colore blu brillante di un demone di leone danzante e nano. Presenta una parrucca a pelle di leone e le braccia, le gambe e la coda sono indipendenti con alcuno dettagli resi in nero. La figura rappresenta probabilmente un precursore del dio custode della casa Bes, popolare a partire dall'inizio del Nuovo Regno.
Figurinha de leao demoníaco, anao e dançante, feita em faiança vidrada em azul vivo. Apresenta toucado com pele de leao, pernas, braços e cauda nao suportados por base, e detalhes delineados a preto. A figura representa, provávelmente, um mensageiro da casa do deus Bes, popular desde inícios do Império Novo.
Figura de fayenza de azul brillante vidriada en forma de demonio enano y bailarín. Lleva un tocado en forma de melena de león, las piernas, brazos y cola son independientes, y lleva detalles en negro. Probablemente, la figura representa a un antecedente del dios del hogar, Bes, popular a partir del Imperio Nuevo.

Object''s History
From the 1905 - 1906 excavations of Professor J. Garstang at Esna. The object comes from tomb number 275. This object was donated to the Museum in 1977 by Colonel J.R. Danson a descendent of Sir Francis Chatillon Danson who was a committee member of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, and donated funds to Garstang's excavations. This gift included more material from el-'Amarna and Garstang's excavations at Abydos.
