Description
An amulet representing the god Thoth, roughly made from azurite. The figure is walking and has the head of an ibis, it probably carries the udjat-eye, relating it to the power of the eye of Horus to receive the dead and also to provide food-offerings in the Afterlife.

Amulet dat de god Thoth voorstelt, ruw bewerkt uit azuriet. De figuur loopt, heeft de kop van een ibis, en draagt waarschijnlijk het oedjat-oog, zodat het wordt verbonden met de macht van het oog van Horus om de overledene te ontvangen en ook om voedseloffers te verzorgen in het hiernamaals.
Amulette en azurite, sommairement façonnée, représentant le dieu Thoth. La figure, à tête d'ibis, dans l'attitude de la marche, porte probablement l'oeil-oudjat, l'associant ainsi au pouvoir de l'oeil d'Horus pour accueillir le défunt et lui prodiguer des offrandes alimentaires dans l'au-delà.
Ein grob gefertigtes Amulett aus Azurit, das den Gott Thot darstellt. Die schreitende ibisköpfige Figur trägt wahrscheinlich das Udjat-Auge, dem sie die Kräfte des Horusauges übermittelt, den Toten wiederzubeleben und Speiseopfer im jenseits empfangen zu können.
Amuleto in azzurrite rappresentante il dio Thoth, di grezza fabbricazione. La figura è rappresentata in cammino e presenta la testa di un ibis. Porta probabilmente l'occhio udjat, associato al potente occhio di Horo, che aveva la funzione di difendere il defunto e di fornire offerte di cibo nell'Aldilà.

The amulets were removed from a mummy which was in such poor condition that it was considered unsuitable for exhibition. They were revealed during radiographic examination and removed in 1967, other parts of the body were used for research purposes. Thirty amulets came from the thoracic region and two from the abdominal area.
