Description
Canopic jars were intended to preserve the soft inner organs removed from the body during mummification. Some of the finest are those in Egyptian alabaster inscribed for high officials of the 26th Dynasty. This example is from the set of four for the general Ptahirdis, son of the lady Ankhnesites.

Canopenvazen waren bedoeld om de zachte inwendige organen in te bewaren die bij de mummificatie waren verwijderd. Enkele van de mooiste exemplaren zijn vervaardigd van albast voor hoge ambtenaren uit de 26e Dynastie. Dit voorbeeld is één van de vier vazen van generaal Ptahirdis, zoon van de dame Anchnesites.
Les vases canopes étaient destinés à conserver les viscères extraits du cadavre lors de la momification. Quelques-uns, parmi les plus beaux, en albâtre égyptien, portent le nom de hauts officiers de la XXVIème Dynastie. Cet exemplaire est l'un des quatre canopes du général Ptahirdis, fils de la dame Ankhnésitès.
Kanopengefässe waren bestimmt, die weichen inneren Organe zu schützen, die aus dem Leichnam während der Mumifizierung entfernt wurden. Einige der schönsten sind die aus ägyptischem Alabaster für hohe Beamte der 26. Dynastie gefertigten. Dieses Beispiel stammt aus einer Serie von vier Stück für den General Ptahirdis, den Sohn der Herrin Anchnesites.
I vasi canopi servivano per conservare gli organi interni estratti dal corpo durante la mummificazione. Quelli in alabastro egiziano inscritti per gli alti ufficiali della XXVI dinastia sono fra i più belli. Questo esemplare fa parte del set dei quattro canopi del generale Ptahirdis, figlio della dama Ankhnesites.
Os vasos de vísceras (chamados canopos pelos gregos) tinham como função preservar as vísceras retiradas do corpo durante o processo da mumificação. Os vasos em alabastro egípcio são os de melhor qualidade, sendo destinados aos altos funcionários da XXVI dinastia. Este exemplar pertence a um conjunto de quatro pertencentes ao general Ptahirdis, filho de Ankhnesites.
Los Vasos Canopos se utilizaron para guardar los órganos blandos internos que se extraían durante el proceso de momificación del cuerpo. Algunos de los más finos vasos egipcios de alabastro llevaban inscrito los nombres de altos oficiales de la Dinastía XXVI. Este vaso pertenece a un conjunto de cuatro del general Ptahirdis, hijo de la señora Anjnesites.
