Description
Bronze figure of a cobra, perhaps from an item of ritual equipment or furniture. The rearing cobra ('uraeus') was considered to defend the sun-god and his creation, and friezes of cobras adorned shrines in various metals.

Bronzen figuur van een cobra, wellicht van een ritueel voorwerp of meubilair. De oprijzende cobra ('uraeus') werd geacht de zonnegod en diens schepping te verdedigen, en cobrafriezen in diverse materialen sierden vele schrijnen.
Figure en bronze d'un cobra, provenant peut-être d'un équipement funéraire ou d'un meuble. Le cobra dressé (uraeus) défendait le dieu-soleil et sa création. Des frises de cobras, fabriqués dans des matériaux variés, ornaient les sanctuaires.
