Description
Vessel for containing the eye-pigment used by men and women. In the earlier periods, a green pigment made from copper ores predominated, whereas later a black lead ore (galena) was more common. The pigment is often today given the Arabic name kohl.

Vaatje om de oogcosmetica gebruikt door mannen vrouwen in te bewaren. In vroegere perioden werd een groen pigment gemaakt van kopererts het meest gebruikt, terwijl later zwart looderts (galena) meer in zwang was. Het pigment wordt tegenwoordig vaak bij de Arabische naam kohl genoemd.
Récipient destiné à contenir du kohol, ce pigment dont se servaient les hommes et les femmes pour se maquiller et se protéger les yeux. Pendant les périodes les plus anciennes, prédominait un pigment vert fabriqué à partir de minerai de cuivre. Plus tard, la galène (minerai de plomb noir) devint plus courante. Actuellement, ce pigment est souvent désigné au moyen du terme arabe, kohol.
