Description
Shallow red pottery dish, excavated in a burial at the key settlement site of Kom el-Ahmar (the Hierakonpolis of later texts) in southern Upper Egypt. The grave goods date this burial to the first half of the fourth millennium BC, when the predynastic culture of Upper Egypt had not yet extended northwards to Lower Egypt.
