The false door started to appear in Egyptian tombs after the Third Dynasty. It was a dummy communication door so that the Ba and Ka, the soul and guardian spirit of the dead, could always be in contact with the world of the living and receive offerings and hear prayers. 

This false door has a cavetto cornice, a cornice with a concave molding having a quarter circle curve. Below, in the window, a scene shows the royal scribe Pepi-Seneb sitting at an offering table heaped with offerings. On the lintel, the horizontal stone above the door, the Hetep-di-nisw formula of the offerings is written to allow the dead to receive eternal offerings. Pepi-Seneb is holding a long staff as a sign of nobility. He wears a short wig, a kilt, and a collar.

La fausse porte fit son apparition dans les tombes égyptiennes après la troisième dynastie. Il s'agissait d'une porte de communication factice qui permettait au Ba et au Ka, à savoir l'âme et l'esprit gardien du défunt, de rester en contact avec le monde des vivants et donc, de recevoir leurs offrandes et d'entendre leurs prières. 

Cette fausse porte une corniche à cavet, ou corniche avec une moulure concave dont le profil est d'un quart de cercle. Dans sa fenêtre, une scène montre le scribe royal Pépi-Seneb assis à une table couverte d'offrandes. Sur le linteau, ou pierre horizontale placée au-dessus de la porte, se trouve la formule "Hetep-di-nisew". Celle-ci permettait au défunt de recevoir éternellement des offrandes. Coiffé d'une perruque courte, Pépi-Seneb porte un pagne et un collier. Il tient également un long bâton en signe de grandeur.

بدأت الأبواب الوهمية فى الظهور فى المقابر المصرية بعد نهاية الأسرة الثالثة. وكان الباب الوهمى عبارة عن باب اتصال رمزى يسمح لبا وكا المتوفى ، أى روحه وقوته الحيوية أو روحه الحارسة بأن يكونا دائماً على اتصال بعالم الأحياء لتلقى القرابين وسماع الصلوات. 

ويزين أعلى هذا الباب الوهمى كورنيش مصرى. وأسفل الكورنيش، نرى فى النافذة منظراً للكاتب الملكى ببى-سنب وقد جلس إلى مائدة قرابين مكتظة. وعلى العتب العلوى للباب نقشت صيغة القرابين حتب-دى-نسو، كى تضمن للمتوقى الحصول على القرابين الأبدية. ويظهر ببى-سنب ممسكاً بعصى طويلة دلالة على نبله، ويرتدى نقبة، وقلادة وشعراً مستعاراً قصيراً.
