The Global Egyptian Museum

This wooden plumb level consists of two short pieces projecting at right angles from a longer slab. 

A limestone bob is strung from the top of the long slab and the upper short projecting wooden piece. 

The string would touch the lower projecting piece when the long slab was held against a vertical surface. 

This tool bears the name of its owner, Sennedjem, who was a chief artisan.

Ce niveau à plomb en bois se compose de deux pièces saillantes posées sur une longue planche. Ces deux pièces forment des angles droits. 

Par ailleurs, un poids en calcaire est accroché à une ficelle. Ce poids est suspendu depuis l'extrémité de la longue planche ainsi que depuis la pièce saillante supérieure. 

Lorsque la longue planche était maintenue contre une surface verticale, la ficelle devait toucher la pièce saillante inférieure. 

Cet outil porte le nom de son propriétaire, le chef artisan Sennedjem.

يتألف ميزان البناء الخشبى هذا من قطعتي خشب قصيرتين، تبرزان على زاوية قائمة، من شريحة أطول. 

وكتلة الميزان المشكلة من الحجر الجيري، كانت تعلق على قمة الزاوية. 

وبالعمل وفق وظيفة تلك الأداة المذكورة، فإن الخيط يمس القطعة السفلى البارزة، عند إمساك اللوح الطويل، قبالة السطح العمودي. 

وقد زخرفت هذه الأداة باسم سننجم، الذي كان رئيسا للفنانين.
