The lioness is the sacred animal of the goddess Sekhmet of Memphis. Her name simply means the "Powerful" and this is extremely apt in view of the destructive aspect of her character. 

The statuette shows the goddess in the body of a woman with the head of a lioness. She is seated on a small throne that rests on a rectangular base adorned by a frieze of an offering formula. 

The goddess wears a three-part wig topped by the sun disk and protected by the cobra or uraeus. She is wearing a long tunic that leaves her feet visible on the base of the statuette.

تعتبر اللبؤة هي الحيوان المقدس لربة منف سخمت والذي يعني اسمها القوية وهو اسم يتناسب إلى أبعد حد مع المظهر الهدام في شخصيتها.

يجسد التمثال الصغير الربة في جسم إمرأة مع رأس لبؤة. وهى تجلس على عرش صغير وضع على قاعدة مستطيلة الشكل مزينة بإفريز كتبت عليه صيغة القرابين.

وهى تلبس باروكة ذات ثلاث خصلات يعلوها قرص الشمس ومحمية بواسطة الكوبرا الملكية كما ترتدي رِداء طويلا تظهر منه أقدامها التي تستند على قاعدة التمثال الصغير.
