Description
This painted head belongs to an Osirian statue of Queen Hatshepsut that flanked the pillared facade of the third terrace of the Temple of Deir El-Bahari. She is wrapped in a shroud like a mummy and wearing the Red Crown of Lower Egypt. She is portrayed with a full face, wide eyes with curved eyebrows, and an aquiline nose, which is curved like an eagle's beak. Although she wears a false beard, the face reveals the beautiful feminine features of the queen.
