Description
The statue depicts Metri, an overseer of the scribes during the Fifth Dynasty, sitting in the traditional pose of scribes with his legs crossed. He spreads a roll of papyrus on his lap and holds it with his left hand. In his right hand he holds a pen. The body of the statue is painted in a reddish brown. Metri has short, natural hair. He is wearing a collar with several colored rows. The whites of his eyes are inlaid with opaque quartz and the pupils with rock crystal. His name and titles are written on a wooden pedestal on which the statue rests. He held many titles, among which were Nome Administrator, Priest of the Goddess Maat, the Greatest of the Tens of Upper Egypt, and the Close Counselor. There was another small standing figure beside him but it is now almost completely broken.

Cette statue représente Metri, un contremaître des scribes durant la cinquième dynastie, assis dans la pose traditionnelle des scribes avec les jambes croisées. Il étale un rouleau de papyrus sur ses genoux et le tient dans sa main gauche. Dans sa main droite, il tient un stylo. Le corps de la statue est peint en brun rougeâtre. Metri a des cheveux courts naturels. Il porte un collier avec plusieurs rangées colorées. Le blanc de ses yeux est incrusté de quartz opaque et ses pupilles de cristal de roche. Son nom et ses titres sont inscrits sur un piédestal en bois sur lequel repose la statue. Il a de nombreux titres dont celui d'administrateur du nome, de prêtre de la déesse Maât, de plus grand des dix de la Haute Egypte et de proche conseiller. Un autre petit personnage se tenait debout à ses côtés mais il est maintenant presque complètement cassé.
تمثال يصور متري، وهو مشرف عام ومراقب من الأسرة الخامسة، جالساً في الوضع التقليدي للكتبة؛ بالساقين متقاطعين ويفرد لفافة بردي فوق حجره ويمسكها بيده اليسرى، بينما يمسك بقلم في يده اليمنى. وبدن التمثال مطلي باللون البني المحروق، وبياض العينين مطعم بالكوارتز المعتم؛ بينما طعم إنسان العينين بالبللور الصخري. وكتب اسمه، مع ألقابه، على القاعدة الخشبية التي يعلوها التمثال. وبين الألقاب الكثيرة التي كان يحملها: "حاكم المقاطعة، وكاهن المعبودة ماعت، والأعظم بين العشرة بمصر العليا، والمستشار المقرب". وكان يقف إلى جواره تمثال آخر صغير، فقد أغلبه.
