The figurine depicts a hippopotamus relaxing. The hippopotamus is lying down with its eyes closed. The artist carefully delineated the shape of the animal and used black to indicate its eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. 

The artist also decorated the surface of the figurine with open papyrus and lotus flowers, thus, depicting the natural environment in which the hippopotamus lives. In general, this animal was linked with fertility and procreation in Ancient Egypt.

Cette figurine représente un hippopotame se reposant. L'hippopotame est allongé avec les yeux fermé. L'artiste a représenté avec soin la forme de l'animal et utilisé du noir pour indiquer ses yeux, son nez, sa bouche et ses oreilles. 

L'artiste a également orné la surface de la figurine de fleurs de papyrus et de lotus ouvertes représentant ainsi l'environnement de vie naturel de l'hippopotame. Cet animal était en général synonyme de fertilité et de procréation dans l'Egypte ancienne.

تمثال صغير لفرس النهر فى حالة إسترخاء وممدد على الأرض وعيونه مغلقة. وقد حاول الفنان أن يصور بدقة الخطوط العامة للتمثال وإستخدم اللون الأسود ليشير إلى عيون وأنف وفم وأذن ذلك الحيوان. 

كما انه زين الجسم بزهور البردى واللوتس المتفتحة حتى تبين الأجواء الطبيعة التى يعيش فيها فرس النهر الذى يرتبط أيضا بالخصوبة فى مصر القديمة.
