Description
The statuette represents Taweret, the goddess of protection of women in childbirth. She is depicted as a female hippopotamus with the arms and the legs of a lion and the tail of a crocodile. In front of her, she holds her traditional knot called the Sa, the sign of protection. She is wearing on her head a low crown surmounted by two plumes and the sun disc. The statuette is placed on a rectangular, hollow base, open at the back in order to contain a small, mummified animal.

Cette statuette représente Taweret, déesse de la protection des femmes durant l'accouchement. Elle est représentée comme un hippopotame femelle, avec les bras et les jambes d'un lion et la queue d'un crocodile. Devant elle, elle porte le noeud traditionnel Sa, signe de protection. Sur sa tête, elle porte une couronne basse surmontée de deux plumes et du disque solaire. Cette statuette est placée sur une base creuse rectangulaire, ouverte à l'arrière afin de contenir un petit animal momifié.
تمثال صغير يصور الإلهة تاوريت، إلهة حماية النساء عند الوضع، في شكل أنثى فرس النهر بذراعي وساقي أسد وذيل تمساح. وهي تمسك أمامها العقدة التقليدية المعروفة باسم "سا"، رمز وعلامة الحماية. وتضع تاوريت فوق رأسها تاجا منخفضا تعلوه ريشتان، مع قرص الشمس. ويستقر التمثال الصغير على قاعدة مجوفة مستطيلة الشكل فتحت من الخلف؛ من أجل أن تضم حيوانا صغيرا محنطا.
