The Global Egyptian Museum

A stela was dedicated to Seneb-en-ef, son of Sat-Hathor who was the "Overseer of the Storeroom of Surplus of the Chief of Works." It comes from Abydos where it was placed as a commemorative monument inscribed with offering formulae, allowing its owner to benefit from the offerings and rituals in honor of Osiris, lord of Abydos and the god of the hereafter. 

The text begins in the middle of the top and runs on both sides in vertical columns. The invocation offering formula begins at the top left; goes to the middle figure and finishes at the right-hand jamb. It reads as follows: "May the king give an offering and may Osiris, lord of Abydos, give an invocation offering, consisting of bread, beer, calves, fowl, clothing, and alabaster (as well as all good things) for the Overseer of the Storeroom of the Surplus of the Chief of Works (called) Seneb-en-ef, son of Sat- Hathor, the Venerated One."

The right-hand column reads as follows: "O people, who shall pass upon this road, up-stream or down-stream! You have to say: a thousand bread, beer, calves, and fowl." The wish is completed in the text in the middle of the figure, giving the name and title of the deceased. The deceased was satisfied by the invocation offerings, which cost nothing, "it is only a breath of air coming out of the mouth," as they always indicated in similar texts.

Une stèle dédiée à Seneb-en-ef, fils de Sat-Hathor, "surveillant du local des excédents du chef des travaux." Elle provient d'Abydos où elle était placée comme monument commémoratif, gravée de formules d'offrandes permettant à son propriétaire de bénéficier des offrandes et des rituels en l'honneur d'Osiris, seigneur d'Abydos et dieu de l'au-delà. 

Le texte débute au milieu de la partie supérieure et continue sur les deux cotés dans des colonnes verticales. La formule d'invocation des offrandes débute sur la partie supérieure gauche, continue sur la figure du milieu et se termine sur le montant droit. Elle indique: "Que le roi fasse une offrande et qu'Osiris, seigneur d'Abydos, fasse une offrande invocatrice, consistant à du pain, de la bière, des veaux, de la volaille, des vêtements et de l'albâtre (ainsi que toutes autres bonnes choses) pour le surveillant du local des excédents du chef des travaux surnommé Seneb-en-ef, fils de Sat-Hathor, le vénéré." 

La colonne de droite indique: "Ah, peuple, celui qui traversera ce chemin, en amont ou en aval! Vous devez de dire: un millier de pains, de bières, de veaux et de volaille." Le vœu est complet dans le texte au milieu de la figure, précisant le nom et titre du défunt. Le défunt était satisfait de l'offrande invocatrice, qui ne coûtait rien, "et n'était qu'un souffle d'air sortant de la bouche," comme il est indiqué dans des textes similaires.

لوحة مهداة إلى سنب-إن-إف، ابن سات-حتحور الذي كان: "المشرف على مخازن الفائض لرئيس الأعمال". وتأتي اللوحة من منطقة أبيدوس حيث وضعت كنصب تذكاري نقش بنص تعويذات قربان تسمح لصاحبها بالاستفادة من القرابين والطقوس؛ تبركا بأوزوريس رب أبيدوس وإله العالم الآخر.

ويبدأ النص المنقوش في منتصف القمة ويستمر على الجانبين في أعمدة رأسية؛ فيبدأ الدعاء بصيغة القربان عند القمة اليسرى ويستمر إلى منتصف الشكل عند العضادة اليمنى. وفي هذا النص: "لعل الملك يقدم قربانا، ولعل أوزوريس رب أبيدوس يمنح تعويذة قربان فيها الخبز وفيها الجعة وفيها العجول وفيها الطير وفيها الثياب والمرمر (وجميع الطيبات)؛ من أجل المشرف على مخازن الفائض لرئيس الأعمال المدعو سنب-إن-إف، ابن سات-حتحور المبجل". 

ويقول النص في العامود الرأسي الأيمن: "يا أيها الناس، يا من سوف تمرون على هذا الطريق صعودا أو هبوطا، عليكم أن ترددوا الدعاء بألف خبز وجعة وعجول وطير". ويكتمل الرجاء في النص الذي في منتصف الشكل؛ حيث يعطي اسم ولقب المتوفى الذي كان قانعا بتعويذة القرابين التي لم تكلفه شيئا، فهي: "زفير هواء يخرج من الفم"؛ مثلما أشير إليه في نصوص شبيهة
