The Global Egyptian Museum

A tombstone that is adorned with the embossed figure of a Roman soldier, who wears a short chiton and a gown. 

He is carrying a roll in his left hand, which he rests on his chest, and his right hand is resting on a prop that is standing at his side. On the lower part of the tombstone there is an inscription giving his name and rank. 

There were various sorts of tombstones in the Greek and Roman periods.

Il tient un rouleau de sa main gauche, reposant sur sa poitrine et sa main droite repose sur un support situé sur le côté. Sur la partie inférieure de la tombe apparaît une inscription indiquant son nom et son rang.

De nombreuses formes de pierres tombales existaient pendant les périodes grec et romaine.

شاهد قبر مصور عليه بالنحت البارز جندى رومانى، يرتدى الخيتون القصير والعباءة. 

صور الجندي واضعاً يده اليسرى على صدره، وممسكاً بلفافة. وتستند يده اليمنى على مسند بجواره. يوجد أسفل الشاهد نقش عليه إسمه والتعريف بشخصيته. 

كانت أشكال شواهد القبور كثيرة ومتعددة فى العصرين اليونانى والرومانى.
