Imhotep is represented sitting, his feet resting on a flat rectangular base. He wears a long cloak covering his left shoulder and leaving the right shoulder naked; his head is shaven. In his hands he holds a papyrus roll with an inscription. There is a tenon below the base of the statuette. Most probably the statuette had originally been sitting on a separately cast chair.
