Description
The mummy of a female who was approximately nineteen years old when she died. The external bandages are worn and discoloured, the contours of the head and body were modelled before the external wrappings were applied and the eyes and mouth were painted on. Each digit was wrapped seperately and those bandages on the feet were arranged to imitate sandals.The forehead is encircled by a linen fillet which leaves the shaven crown of the head exposed, traces of rosette and feather patterns still remain on a wide belt of painted linen at the waist. A framework of palm-fibre tightly bound with linen thread hangs around the neck threaded with small amulets, some of which are missing but those that remain are of wood and still retain traces of gilding.

De mummie van een vrouw die ongeveer negentien jaar was toen ze stierf. De buitenste windsels zijn afgesleten en verkleurd; de contouren van hoofd en lichaam zijn gemodelleerd voordat de buitenste windsels werden aangebracht en de ogen en mond erop geschilderd werden. Iedere vinger is apart ingewikkeld en de windsels om de voeten zijn zo aangebracht dat ze sandalen imiteren. Het voorhoofd wordt omcirkeld door een linnen band die de geschoren kruin van het hoofd vrijlaat; sporen van rozetten- en veerpatronen zijn nog aanwezig op een brede band van geschilderd linnen rond het middel. Een raamwerk van palmvezels samengebonden met linnen draden hangt rond de nek, er zijn amuletten aan geregen waarvan een aantal nu ontbreekt; de overgebleven amuletten zijn gemaakt van hout en vertonen nog sporen van verguldsel.

Les contours de la tête et du corps ont été modelés avant que les bandelettes extérieures ne soient appliquées, la bouche et les yeux ayant été peints. Chaque doigt est enveloppé séparément et les bandelettes aux pieds imitent la forme de sandales. Le front est entouré d'un filet de lin qui laisse à découvert le crâne rasé. Les traces de dessins de rosettes et de plumes sont visibles sur une ceinture de lin autour de la taille. Des fibres de palmiers et des pièces de lins forment un cadre autour du cou auquel pend une série de petites amulettes, dont certaines ont disparu. Celles qui subsistent sont en bois et possèdent des traces de dorure.
Mumie einer Frau, die zum Zeitpunkt ihres Todes ungefähr 19 Jahre alt war. Die äußeren Binden sind verschlissen und verblichen, die Umrisse des Kopfes und des Körpers wurden geformt bevor die äußeren Hüllen angelegt und die Augen und der Mund darauf aufgezeichnet wurden. Jede Zehe wurde separat umhüllt, und die Binden um die Füße wurden so angelegt, daß sie Sandalen nachbilden. Die Stirn ist von einem Leinenband umgeben, welches den rasierten Scheitel des Kopfes hervortreten läßt. Spuren von Rosetten- und Federmustern blieben noch auf dem breiten Gürtel aus bemaltem Leinen um die Taille erhalten. Ein Flechtwerk aus Palmenfasern, das mit Leinenfäden eng zusammengebundenen und mit kleinen Amuletten durchzogen ist, hängt rings um den Nacken herab. Einige von ihnen fehlen, aber die erhalten gebliebenen sind aus Holz gearbeitet und haben noch Spuren der Vergoldung bewahrt.

Le bende esterne sono consumate e scolorite, i contorni della testa e corpo erano modellati prima che venissero applicate le coperture esterne e occhi e bocca vi erano dipinti sopra. Ogni dito era bendato separatamente e quelle bende sistemate sui piedi a imitare dei sandali. La fronte è cinta da un nastro di lino che lascia scoperta la corona rasente alla testa, tracce di motivi a <!---->rosetta e a piuma sono ancora visibili su un'ampia cintura di lino dipinta sulla vita. Un'intelaiatura di fibra di palma strettamente legata con del filo di lino è appesa intorno al collo e vi erano infilati piccoli amuleti, alcuni dei quali sono mancanti, ma i rimanenti sono di legno e conservano ancora delle tracce di doratura.
A múmia de uma mulher que tinha aproximadamente dezanove anos de idade quando morreu. As tiras de linho externas apresentam-se descoloridas e com aspecto de uso. Os contornos da cabeça e do corpo foram modelados antes que as faixas externas fossem aplicadas e os olhos e a boca foram pintados em cima. Cada um dos dedos foi embrulhado separadamente e as faixas nos pés foram arranjadas para imitar sandálias. A testa está circundada por uma cinta de linho que deixa o topo rapado da cabeça exposto. Traços de desenhos de rosetas e penas ainda permanecem num cinto largo de linho pintado na cintura. Uma armação de fibras de palma firmemente atadas com fios de linho encontra-se em volta do pescoço, enfiada com pequenos amuletos, nos quais alguns desapareceram, mas aqueles que permaneceram são de madeira e ainda mostram traços de ouro.

Object''s History
From the private collection of Joseph Mayer, given to the Museum in 1867, the mummy was originally in the private collection of Joseph Sams.For more information see Record 1, M13519 Liverpool Museum, Object History. The mummy came to the United Kingdom in a coffin of the XXIst Dynasty which belonged to a chantress in the temple of Amun called Esi.

General Comment
Preservation: The bones of the legs were badly damaged and conservation work was essential. An aluminium 'splint' was employed to stabalise the right knee, and extra padding inserted to restore the shape of the legs.
