Description
A net sinker made from limestone. It is a flattened ovate shape with crossed vertical and horizontal grooves for strings. Such weights were attached to the edges of fishing nets to enable them to sink more quickly into the water and retain their shape when thrown.

Zinklood van een net van kalksteen. Het heeft een afgeplatte eivorm en horizontale en verticale groeven voor touwen. Dergelijke gewichten werden aan de randen van visnetten vastgemaakt om deze sneller te doen zinken. Ook zorgden de zinkloden ervoor dat het net in de goede vorm bleef bij het uitwerpen.

Piombo da rete in granito. L'oggetto ha una forma piatta ed ovale ed è attraversato da solchi verticali ed orizzontali per le corde. Tali pesi erano attaccati alle estremità delle reti da pesca permettendo loro di affondare velocemente nell'acqua e di mantenere la loro forma una volta lanciate.
Peso de rede feito em calcário. Apresenta forma oval e plana, com cruzamento de ranhuras verticais e horizontais, para os fios. Estes pesos eram presos ás extremidades das redes de pesca para que estas afundássem com maior rapidez na água e mantivessem a sua forma quando atiradas.
Pesa de red hecho de caliza. Tiene forma ovalada y plana con ranuras entrecruzadas vertical y horizontalmente para los hilos. Este tipo de pesa se ataba a los bordes de las redes de pesca para permitir que se hundieran con más rapidez en el agua manteniendo su forma mientras lo hacían.

From excavations at el-'Amarna carried out by the Egypt Exploration Society during the 1928-29 season. The weight was part of a large mixed collection purchased from the Castle Museum, Norwich, in 1956.
