Description
A fragment of commemorative scarab made from schist. The underside is inscribed in hieroglyphic text and the names of Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye are clearly seen within cartouches. Parts of the king's full titulary are also visible. Such scarabs were issued to record events within the king's reign, for example. to commemorate his marriage to a Mitanni princess and the construction of a 'pleasure-lake' for Tiye amongst other things, and as such they were dispatched to the further reaches of the empire.

Deel van een gedenkscarabee van schist. De onderkant bevat een hiëroglifische tekst en in de cartouches zijn de namen van Amenhotep III en koningin Teje duidelijk zichtbaar, net als een deel van de volledige titulatuur van de koning. Dergelijk scarabeeën werd uitgegeven om bepaalde gebeurtenissen tijdens de regering van een koning te herdenken, zoals bijvoorbeeld zijn huwelijk met een Mitanniprinses en de aanleg van een pleziermeertje voor Teje, en vervolgens naar de uithoeken van het rijk gezonden.
Fragment d'un scarabée commémoratif en schiste. La face inférieure comporte un texte hiéroglyphique. Les noms d'Amenhotep III et de la Reine Tiy sont inscrits dans des cartouches. La titulature du roi est encore partiellement visible. Ces scarabées étaient destinés à raconter les événements marquants du règne du roi, notamment son mariage avec une princesse du Mitanni et la construction du "lac de plaisance" pour Tiy. Ils étaient donc expédiés aux quatre coins de l'empire.
Ein Bruchstück eines Gedenkskarabäus aus Schiefer. Die Unterseite ist mit einem Hieroglyphentext beschriftet, in dem die Namen von Amenophis III. und der Königin Teje in Kartuschen deutlich zu erkennen sind. Ein Teil der vollständigen Titulatur des Königs ist ebenfalls erhalten. Solche Skarabäen wurden ausgegeben, um Ereignisse der Regierungszeit dieses Königs zu verewigen, etwa, um an seine Vermählung mit einer Prinzessin aus Mitanni oder an die Anlage eines "Lustsees" für Teje zu erinnern, und daher wurden sie bis in die entfernten Gebiete des Reiches geschickt.
Frammento di uno scarabeo commemorativo in scisto. La parte inferiore è iscritta in testo geroglifico con i nomi di Amenofi III e della regina Tiye, contenuti all'interno di cartigli. Anche parte della titolatura reale rimane ancora visibile. Tali scarabei erano fabbricati per commemorare eventi avvenuti durante il regno del sovrano, per esempio per ricordare il suo matrimonio con una principessa Mitanni e la costruzione di 'lago di divertimento' per Tiye e venivano inviati nelle lontane parti dell'impero.
Fragmento de escaravelho comemorativo, feito em xisto. A parte inferior encontra-se inscrita com texto hieroglífico e com os nomes de Amen-hotep III e rainha Tiye claramente inseridos em cartelas. Partes do título completo do faraó sao também visíveis. Estes escaravelhos eram produzidos com a finalidade de registar os eventos do reinado do faraó, por exemplo, para comemorar o seu casamento com princesa de Mitanni e a construçao do "lago de lazer" para Tiye entre outros eventos, sendo estes escaravelhos enviados a todas as partes do império.

La parte inferior está inscrita con un texto jeroglífico, en el que se ven claramente los nombres de Amenofis III y la reina Tiye dentro de cartuchos. También es visible parte de la titulatura del rey. Este tipo de escarabeos fueron realizados para registrar acontecimientos dentro del reinado del rey, por ejemplo, conmemorar su matrimonio con una princesa de Mitanni y la construcción de un «lago de recreo» para Tiye, entre otras cosas; como tales fueron enviados a los rincones más alejados del imperio.
