Description
Turned wooden furniture leg or fitting, from the great city founded by the Roman Emperor Hadrian at the site where his lover Antinous drowned in the Nile, and named after him Antinoopolis. The city became the dominant provincial city of Upper Egypt, and flourished throughout the Byzantine Period.

Gedraaide houten meubelpoot of armatuur, uit de grote stad die de Romeinse keizer Hadrianus stichtte op de plaats waar zijn minnaar Antinoos in de Nijl verdronk, en die naar hem Antinoopolis werd genoemd. De stad werd de overheersende provinciestad van Opper-Egypte, en bloeide gedurende de Byzantijnse periode.
Ceci est un pied de meuble en bois tourné ou une garniture. Cet objet provient d'Antinoopolis, grande ville fondée par l'empereur romain Hadrien sur le site où son favori Antinous s'est noyé dans le Nil. Cette ville provinciale devint la plus importante de Haute Égypte et prospéra durant toute la Période Byzantine.
Gedrehtes hölzernes Möbelbein oder Beschlag aus der großen Stadt, die der römische Kaiser Hadrian an der Stelle gründete, an der sein Geliebter Antinous im Nil ertrank und die nach ihm Antinooupolis genannt wurde. Die Stadt wurde die bedeutendste Provinzstadt Ober-Ägyptens und blühte während der gesamten Byzantinischen Zeit.

Este objecto é uma perna de mobiliário em madeira torneada, proveniente da cidade fundada pelo imperador romano Adriano, no local onde o seu amante, Antínoo, morreu afogado no Nilo, e à qual chamou Antinoópolis. Esta, tornou-se uma cidade provincial dominante do Alto Egipto, e floresceu durante o Período Bizantino.
Pata o adorno, de un mueble torneada en madera, procedente de la gran ciudad fundada por el emperador romano Adriano en el lugar en el que su amante Antínoó se ahogó en el Nilo, llamada en su honor Antínoópolis. La ciudad se convirtió en la ciudad provincial predominante en el Alto Egipto, y floreció durante todo el Período Bizantino.
