Description
The funerary slab decorated the tomb of a soldier of Syrian origin, Aurelius Sabius, of the Second Legion. He died at the age of 35. He is depicted in a standing pose, wearing a Roman toga and holding a long double-headed spear in his right hand. He is setting his shield on the floor with his left hand. His hair is thick and he is bearded. Beneath the scene there are three incised lines of Latin inscription.

Cette dalle funéraire décorait la tombe d'Aurélius Sabius, soldat d'origine syrienne qui faisait partie de la deuxième légion. Il décéda à l'âge de 35 ans. En position debout, il porte une toge romaine et tient dans sa main droite une longue lance à deux pointes. Il pose son bouclier par terre avec sa main gauche. Ses cheveux sont épais et il porte la barbe. En dessous de cette scène se trouvent trois lignes comportant des inscriptions latines.
لوحة جنائزية كانت تزين قبر جندي من أصل سوري يدعى أوريليوس سابيوس، من الفيلق الثاني، مات وهو في الخامسة والثلاثين من عمره. ويصور واقفاً، يرتدي توجا رومانية ويمسك في يده اليمنى بحربة طويلة، بينما يضع درعه على الأرض بيده اليسرى. وشعر رأسه كثيف وله لحية. وفي الجزء الأسفل حفرت ثلاثة أسطر بكتابة لاتينية.
