Description
Columns were introduced into temples in order to simulate nature and to identify mankind again with nature. The first tentative attempts at columns are still visible in the Step Pyramid of Saqqara. Columns in Ancient Egypt were in many forms such as bundles of papyrus; papyrus stems and lotus stems; palmiform, or palm-like; or campaniform, or bell-shaped. The capital of this column is in the form of a lotus flower and its details are carved in relief. The shaft is cylindrical and is set on a rounded base.

Des colonnes étaient introduites dans les temples afin de simuler la nature et d'identifier à nouveau l'espèce humaine avec la nature. La première tentative de colonnes peut encore être vue dans la pyramide à degrés de Saqqarah. En Egypte ancienne, les colonnes adoptaient de nombreuses formes comme des fagots de papyrus, des tiges de papyrus et des tiges de lotus ou bien elles pouvaient être en forme de palmier, ou encore de cloche. Le chapiteau de cette colonne est en forme de fleur de lotus et ses détails sont sculptés en relief. Son corps est cylindrique et posé sur une base arrondie.
كانت الأعمدة توضع فى المعابد لتحاكى الطبيعة ولكى تذكرالإنسان بالطبيعة. وأول محاولة لعمل الأعمدة لاتزال موجودة فى مجموعة الهرم المدرج بسقارة. ولقد اتخذت الأعمدة فى مصر القديمة أشكالاً متعددة مثل حزم البردى وسيقان البردى وسيقان اللوتس كما اتخذت بعض الأعمدة أشكالاً نخيلية على شكل نخلة، أو ناقوسية على شكل جرس. وتاج هذا العمود مشكل على هيئة زهرة لوتس بتفاصيل منقوشة. وبدن العمود اسطوانى وموضوع على قاعدة مستديرة.
