Description
Bes is the dwarf god of joy. He was also considered to be a demon. Bes is depicted on this stela with his typical grotesque mask-like facial features. Bes is holding two lions. Two antelopes stand next to his legs. Because of his great strength, it was believed Bes was able to strangle lions, antelopes, and snakes with his bare hands. Bes was a household deity and stelae like this artifact were placed in houses for protection.

Bès est le dieu nain de la joie. Il était également considéré comme un démon. Bès est représenté sur cette stèle avec ses traits grotesques typiques qui ressemblent à un masque. Bès tient deux lions. Deux antilopes se tiennent à côté de ses jambes. En raison de sa grande force, on pensait que Bès était capable d'étrangler des lions, des antilopes et des serpents à mains nues. Bès était un dieu du foyer et des stèles comme celles-ci étaient placées dans les maisons pour les protéger.
بس هو المعبود القزم، رب المرح، وكان يعتبر أيضاً من الجان. وقد ظهر بس على هذه اللوحة بملامحه الغريبة المعهودة والتى تشبه القناع وقد أمسك بأسدين، بينما يقف إلى جواره ظبى. ونظراً لقوته الجبارة، كان يعتقد أنه يستطيع أن يصارع الأسود والظباء والثعابين بيديه. كما كان يعتبر من المعبودات المنزلية، وكانت لوحات مثل تلك التى بين يدينا دائماً ما توضع فى المنازل للحماية.
