List of «Passport» Data

The list of «passport» data contains 14 subject matters that are recommended to be used for exchange of standardised basic object information of Egyptian antiquities. The numbers between [brackets] refer to the numbers of the main attributes of the Multilingual Egyptological Thesaurus.

PD 01

INTERNATIONAL INVENTORY NUMBER [standard]: unique and immutable number for the museum object given by the GEM consisting of a unique numerical code for that collection [THES 01] and a sequential number within the GEM: 00/000/000000

PD 02

PRESENT LOCATION [THES 01]: name of the collection in which the object is currently kept: NAME OF MUSEUM/COLLECTION + COUNTRY NUMBER & MUSEUM NUMBER: 00/000.

PD 03

INVENTORY NUMBER(S) : the object’s owning museum’s proper inventory number(s).

PD 04

CATEGORY [THES 02]: classification of the object.

PD 05

PROVENANCE [=THES 03]: place where the object was found.

PD 06

DATING [=THES 04]: the object’s dating according to period, dynasty, king

PD 07

MATERIAL [=THES 05].

PD 08

MEASUREMENTS [standard]: height, length, width, depth and diameter in CENTIMETRE (HT x LT x WT x DT). Weight in KILOGRAM (KG).

PD 09

STATE OF PRESERVATION [=THES 07].

PD 10

ACTOR(S): the persons or divinities who are linked with the object, if any. For divine and royal names  THES 13 & 14 will be used, and for proper names a standard.

PD 11

DESIGNATION [free text]: limited text description of the object.

PD 12

IMAGE(S): photograph(s) or negative number(s) of the object, if any.

PD 13

COMMENT [free text].

PD 14

LAST UPDATE OF THE OBJECT’S REGISTRATION [standard]: DD/MM/YY.
